Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Accident: Fatalities Climbs to 13

The total count of victims resulting from the UPS cargo plane which ignited and went down has now climbed to 13, according to recent announcements.

City Leader's Remarks

While en route to the Teamsters’ candlelight gathering, I learned of a 13th person that passed away as a result of the aircraft incident,” wrote the city mayor in a online message. “My heart is with the loved ones, associates and peers of all who were taken in this week’s disaster. We will endure this collectively.”

Victims Identified

“Our sympathies are extended to each staff member who has been touched and everyone in our local community – assisting you and making sure you get the support and resources you need is our main concern,” the firm’s communication stated.

Investigation Details

National officials announced that the freight aircraft’s left wing burst into flames and an power plant separated shortly after liftoff from the aviation hub, resulting in the jet to fall and burst into a blaze.

The NTSB has said it is probing the jet’s service record, that was in the state for repairs a period prior to the crash.

Aircraft records indicated the aircraft was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from the start of last month to mid-October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was there in that city,” stated an investigator on Thursday, not giving a specific date range. “We will look at every piece of repairs that was done, from the repair period, straight to the date of the trip.”

Retrieval of Vital Items

The pilot’s recorder and information unit were recovered, and the motor was discovered on the airfield.

The recorders – called flight recorders – were constructed to withstand collision damage and intense heat from infernos, and they appeared to be intact when discovered among the crash debris. Authorities plan on examining data from the black boxes.

Aircraft’s final flight details displayed an height of 475 feet and a speed of 210 mph ahead of the accident.

Repair History

Per Federal Aviation Administration files dated 18 September, a crack on a structural piece in the fuel container required maintenance.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which said it supplies structural repairs for the carrier’s aircraft and operates a service location in that city, refused to speak, but expressed it would work closely when officials contacted it.

Services Resume

At the same time, the facility operations resumed that evening with its Next Day Air or nighttime process, official the company official confirmed. Each of the three runways at the airport were also reopened.

The distribution hub in the city is the company’s largest. The center employs more than twenty thousand people in the region, processes three hundred trips per day and organizes over four hundred thousand parcels each hour.

Local Support

A candlelight vigil was held on the night of 6 November by the local worker’s group, which represents workers at the Louisville airport, the organization’s biggest shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which supports staff, commenced the vigil with a quiet tribute at that time, the approximate hour of the accident previously.

“This incident was so abrupt, so surprising,” the official addressed the crowd of 200. “No one had a chance to bid farewell to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
