Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a title is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, took control to create a final set.

He defended 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
